Sep 29th - Oct 3rd Our research started from the words: Industrial-Text
These words have multiple aspects and features. In particular, we analyzed the meaning of these words, or better we focused our attention on the loss of meaning and value of "common" words or expressions that everyday people use in different fields such as politics, feelings, society, advertising. For this reason we included different brand names or recurring symbols (ex. Coca-Cola, Microsoft, and the cross as a symbol of Christianity). So we decided to create a video where our images are repeated in different velocity and are connected by disturbing effects (VHS) and the recording's words.
Our aim was to create a "brain-washing" effect to sensitize people to think of real value of the words. An evident characteristic in the video is the absence of colours, this choice has the aim of expressing that the loss of meaning is equivalent to the loss of colour-reality.
In our performance we reinforced our concept by projecting the video in a black room where a person stands in front of the wall, in this way the person is blinded by the projection similar to how in reality they are blinded by the loss of values.
We entitled our work "Blind Meaning"
Honestly, I was sure to meet difficulties in this project but during its realisation I verified how "working in group" was a banal worry. All of my projects of my previous life to Foundation course were realised through a totally personal and subjective way. So, I'm very glad to have worked with two colleagues of my course and discover how interesting connections could be born between different and stranger people.
